22 students and school teachers of Alpine Public School, Uttarkashi recently embarked on a fascinating field trip to Agriculture Research Campus, Patanjali Organic Research Institute, Haridwar on 03.01.2024. The visit provided a unique opportunity for the young minds to witness the soil testing value chain firsthand and ignite their curiosity in organic farming. During the visit the students were amazed by the soil testing laboratory, soil testing facility, soil testing kit-Dharti ka Doctor demonstrated by Dr. Manohari Rathi. The students also participated in soil testing through the kit. Mr. Deepak Vashist makes familiar the students with organic farming and organic formulations for sustainable Agriculture and playing the Snake and ladder game to learn soil health explained by Mr. Arpan Chauhan.
The visit aimed to inspire the next generation of citizens by exposing them to real-world soil testing facilities and organic farming and foster a deeper understanding of agriculture and encourage them to pursue careers in agricultural science and innovation.
Mr. Pawan Kumar from PORI concluded the visit by addressing the available facilities and capacity of the campus and shared his experiences on organic farming, community engagement and nutrition through microgreens. He said that by engaging with local community through educational outreach programs, the centre not only inspires young minds but also strengthens its connection to the community it serves. The visit was made memorable by gifting the book “Prakriti ke Rang” and a memento to Dr. Jaya Patel from Alpine Public School.
