Soil Testing Laboratory

The Soil Testing Laboratory (STL) came into existence in 2021 at Agriculture Research Campus under Patanjali Organic Research Institute, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The STL is aimed to give agricultural support services to the farming community in order to help them boost crop yield and soil fertility. The laboratory also intends to cater to the needs of the industry for providing nutritive analysis of their products as well as the analysis of effluents for project purposes. For conducting extensive soil analysis, the laboratory is equipped with high-end testing and advanced analytical equipment such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer and Kjeldahl distillation unit. The Laboratory offers soil, plant, manure and irrigation water analysis services to the farmers and other clients. A regular Advanced Level Training in soil testing, plant analysis and water quality assessment is also imparted from time to time for the scientific and technical personnel associated with soil testing. For providing soil testing at farmer’s doorstep we developed a rapid and low-cost soil analysis kit ‘Dharti Ka Doctor’.

Services offered

  • Soil and plant testing for macro and micronutrients
  • Irrigation water quality assessment
  • Manure analysis for total nutrient content
  • Soil and plant analysis for heavy metals and pollutant elements
  • Advisory on balanced fertilizer use
  • Advisory on management of problem soils
